Little House Needlework: An Adaptation

I’ve been  away  from home for the past week.  I hardly made any effort to check my emails or read the forums.  Then  later  today I found out  that  my partner  has already received  my  package.

Here  was  what I  have made for her.  I wanted to make a stitcher’s  pocket  or most stitchers commonly call it “bourse”  in French and also a mattress pincushion.   As a result, I make it as a 2-in-1 stitcher’s  accessories. This time for Specific Designer  Exchange on SBEBB  was for  TerryP.  Both  the  fabric a 28 ct  Cashel and the threads are my own DIY  version of overdyes.

Although  I have  different  mailing  date for this exchange and the Quaker,  but  I stitched and finished this  mattress  pincushion earlier than the Quaker mattress pincushion.  I  could tell that  different technique gives  different finishing effect.  From now on, I will stick using PC#12 for backstitching  and  either a quilting thread or #80  tatting  thread for the whipstitch/ladder stitch.

Sweet!

I got my  Little House Needlework Exchange today. It was from Carol S. What a sweet surprise. I have always admire Carol’s work. To me she works very fast! So I’m considered so lucky to have her as a partner. Just look at the beauty she made for me….a mattress pincushion!!! Yay!!! It’s so pretty.  Along with the pincushion, Carol also included some goodies. Lovely!!  Thanks a million, Carol!!!

Quaker Pinpillow

Carol B have posted on Legacy Board to say she had recieved my Quaker Exchange. ( QQX14 ). This time I stitched on Lugana with my overdyed thread. I find that finishing effort using Lugana is lot easier for me though the fabric tend to fray more than linen. I used PC#12 for all the backstitching and whipstitch using quilting thread. Thus I’m really satisfied with the overall look. Over on Legacy, NancyK is running the next round ( QQ15 ) with Christmas theme. If you are Quaker fan and love exchanges, please join in. Sign ups will run through December 1st, and mailing will be January 5th.

Gifts from a stitching buddy!

Yasmin who happens to be an excellent finisher, not so long ago send me a wonderful  stitcher’s accessories which was a mattress pincushion and a scissors pouch. Any stitcher would be very delighted to receive gorgeous looking handstitched accessories in the mail…I did!!! Thank you so much, Min! I will treasure them forever…  :)

Quarterly Quaker 14th

I have took part in Quaker Quarterly Exchange over Legacy Board for several time. Here are what I have  recieved in the past from my previous partners. I have to say that I have a pretty nice Quaker Smalls collection.

This round I have received from Jenny in IL a pretty Halloween theme Quaker. Lovely finishing I must say as I’m not really good with beadings. Jenny have done is so pretty and glamourous looking pincushion. Obviously she really enjoy doing up the finishing. Thank you Jenny!
