This was what I made for my partner GeorgieP in Australia on Hooked on Exchanging Freebie Exchange. I was away during the last school holiday when she recieved my piece. I made for her a covered tape measure which was much better that the last time I did. The design was my my own. I’m glad that Georgie was pleased with it.
When I returned home from our trip, gladly to have among my other mails I found a package from Sonda in OR has arrived. She send me such a pretty Just Nan Royal Blossom finished as biscornus along with a beaded scissors fob and some other goodies. Very lovely exchange, indeed.
and I found out that ………………..

I’ve never share before any form of disasters that happened. Be it the stitching part or the finishing part. So here is my try out on tape measure cover. I have never done any versions of cover and I thought I want to give it a try. I have problem when it comes to attaching the parts together. I knew from the very beginning that I didn’t give ample allowance on the fabric on one side. But I keep going until I got the result. As in one of the pictures, the fabric frayed a bit making it looking pretty ugly. I believe even if I got this kind of work in the mail, I would be disappointed. I will keep on practise. Anyway, I have already completed a set of stitching to make up another tape measure cover. This time , I hope it would be nicer then maybe I can do the same for my future exchanges.
Incorporating 2 dances today. Yay! I got my Vegetable Sampler completed. There are some mistakes but I can ignore them. I’m not a perfectionist and I have been enjoying in adapting designs to suit “me”. Therefore if I happened to make non-disastrous mistake, I just let it be that way. So here is the sampler which I have enjoyed working on it. Just love the colours.

Earlier this morning, I sat down and spend some time to work mostly the bottom part of this Vegetable Basket Sampler. I got the vegetable patch done but my cauliflower on the bottom row was off by 1 stitch so I had it redone. I really want to get the beeskep done today to see the colour effect of the thread I choosed. I’m pretty pleased with the result. The bees are still roaming outside the linen , maybe I’ll get them inside the sampler later today. Next, apart from the bees, I’ll be working on the border and filling up the background of the verse and this only requires 1 shade and I don’t have to peek at the chart…..sort of free-stitching.
Sorry about the photo quality. I just don’t have the time to edit the photo as I simply want to make a quick update.

Currently I’m stitching up the Vegetable Basket Sampler from Prairie Schooler #45 Garden Sampler. I made a little mistake as shown in one of the picture. The wrong placement of the letter was the result of trying to memorise the chart instead of refering to it while listening to Prison Break DVD. Material wise , just like the Garden Gate Sampler. I stitched from same leaflet, I’m using a Natural 32ct Belfast with my own version of overdyed DMC threads.

another mattress pincushion finishing. It’s Cranberry Bush , one of earlier freebies by Indigo Rose. I’ve seen lots of versions stitched by many stitchers. My version : on 32 White Lugana with Parfait Waterlilies and AVAS green.

Yes, I did this particular tote out of scraps of fabric. Shamely to admit it was a UFO project long before I signed up for a quilting class ( which is also a major UFO ) in mid 2003 and I have forgotten the steps totally. And I spend more time to look for the instructions when I saw Frenchie Annette’s Twist Bag on her blog “Kerouezee“. So it was a big relief and pretty happy to have it done completely. However when I uploaded the picture I realised I didn’t take any shots of the lining.

….. came this Quaker Pinkeep from With My Needle. Instead of a pinkeep as suggested by Ellen Chester, I have it done as a mattress pincushion. Stitched on 32 ct Mulberry Linen with GAST Angel Hair. The sides of the mattress pincushion was made up of 32ct Antique Rose Linen. Since it’s alphabets, I’m naming it as a Quaker Alphabets Pincushion. However in these picture, it looks like I stitched with DMC White.

Yesterday, the mailman brought me another package. It was from LynneA who send me a pretty Prairie Schooler scissors keeper for 2008 Exchange over Prairie Schooler Fans yahoogroup. With the beads edging and it was stitched on a sparklie Lugana. Very nice! Infact her package arrived super quick. On the other hand, mine was send out very much earlier and it just reached her yesterday too.

Pattern from the leaflet : From The Heart. I have really love this particular design that I have no hesitation to stitch it twice. The first was a sewing pocket for kiwiJo.

Close up of over one stitching on 32 ct Rue Green Linen. I’ve used DMC entirely.
In a recent Pinkeep exchange over Hooked on Exchanging organised by CathyB where upon I got Irene in Canada as my pinkeep recepient. And I made her LHN Small House Sampler as an over one on 32 ct linen with GAST and DMC.

Last week, I received a pinkeep from my partner in France, CathieL who stitched for me a freebie from Windy Willow. This particular Japanese designer is really new to me. I’m so glad that Cathie picked this Bird Make Me Tender freebie and the colourways are simply my favourite.

Finally my very old stitched piece of Purple Heart is turned into something more useful – a mattress pincuchion. Since this came as a kit therefore there wasn’t enough of linen to do the sides thus I used a separate piece of 32ct linen. It’s a dark purple shade and just nice to compliment the linen colour of the kit while the threads are Anchor brand.
It’s EEF In the Pink. Fabric is 36ct linen but I’m not sure what was the colourname as I’ve lost the wrapper that came with it. I’m using DMC but making my own colourways to suit the fabric colour. I apologised for the poor image of these shots because I took it under different lighting conditions showing big diffence of the colours. There was a satin stitch in pink on the sawtooth border ( top picture ) which I frogged it out later ( below ) .
There is a bundle of stitched little pieces that seriously needs finishings. One of them is this. I’m trying to tackle at least 1 piece per week for finishing task. Just completed this today as a mattress pincushion.
